Featuring the entire community of Riverviews Artists.
Brush off your Walt Whitman hat and Gertrude Stein wig for the BEAT BURG Dead Poet’s Party. Evoke the spirit of Baudelaire or Behan by reciting a favorite poem (perhaps fortified by the spirits of DISH first), or simply join us as we bid adieu to BEATBURG until April 2016. DISH restaurant, 7 p.m. April 29.
Young rap artists from Lynchburg and the surrounding areas will showcase their talents during BEAT BURG 2015. Ripe at Riverviews will be hosted by Oktober9 of Rawsole Records and will feature exciting performances by eight emerging rappers. Craddock-Terry Gallery, April 16th, 7 to 10 p.m.
Kick off National Poetry Month with a First Friday party at Riverviews Artspace. Groove to live music by Quintana Latin and Jazz; listen to verses by local poets Bunny Goodjohn, Laura-Gray Street, and Gary Dop; and experience the installation Caution: X.G.O.T.A.W.A.Y.? (Exclusive grounds of the angsty watchers among you) by Ankica Mitrovska. Craddock-Terry Gallery, April 3rd, 5:30-8:00 pm
Influenced by German expressionism, surrealism and graffiti art, Ankica Mitrovska’s charcoal drawings of human-animal mutants are intended to overwhelm in grand scale illustrations.
